Jett Swetland came up big at the dish and on the mound, leading the Fighting Scots to a 11-1 win over Marion Harding on Saturday at Highland.
Swetland had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the second and fourth innings.
Marion Harding couldn’t get anything going as long as Swetland was pitching. Marion Harding managed just one hit off of the Highland Fighting Scots Varsity’s pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four during his three innings of work.
Highland beat Marion Harding thanks to 13 hits, including three extra base hits. Highland scored four runs in the fifth on on a two-run single by Jacob Fox and an RBI single by Conner Ulrey.
Highland went up for good in the second, scoring two runs on an RBI double by Swetland and an RBI single by Max Schreiber, who knocked in Wyatt Gresh after he tripled to start the inning.
After a quick strike from Marion Harding, Highland responded with two runs in the fourth. Swetland scored on an error Fox scored on a sacrifice fly by Chase Beam.
Seniors Justin Tuggle and Byron Belcher pitched in relief for the Scots who move to 10-6 on the season, 3-3 on the MOAC Blue Division.
