Game Recap

The Highland Scots won their 9th straight game on Saturday to improve to 15-6 on the year by defeating OCC opponent Marysville.
Justin Tuggle (4-1) pitched 4 innings of shut out baseball, keeping the Monarchs off of the basepaths for most of the first four frames. Sophmore Max Schreiber pitched the final three innings for his 2nd save of the year.
Jett Swetland had 2 hits for the Scots, including an RBI double in the 3rd to put the Scots up 1-0. The game was a defensive struggle which both teams playing solid defense. The highlight of the game was Freshman catcher Lane Ballard’s diving catch to thwart a Marysville rally.
With the Scots up by one, Jacob Fox hit a backside single in the top of the 7th. He was brought home by a Shane Carney line drive single up the middle that was misplayed by the Marysville outfield. Both Fox and Carney scored on the play to put the Scots up 3 to 0.
Max Schreiber worked a perfect ‘1-2-3’ 7th inning to preserve the win for the Scots.
The Scots play at Northmor on Monday as they begin a 4 game conference stretch (N’mor, Elgin, Elgin, Mt, Gilead,) before tournament play.
