Meet Recap

The Highland High School Wrestling team placed 5th on Saturday at the Granville “Pools to Duals” Invitational. Wrestlers had up to 4 matches in their pools, and then competed in a dual if their team was in the top eight. After the pools were complete, Highland sat in 5th place out of 15 teams, with 105 points, and was set to wrestle Utica who placed 6th after the pool rounds. Heading into the last match of the dual, highland was down 33-36. Senior Zach Baker pinned his opponent to help get his team the win, 39-36.
Going 5-0 for the day were Gavin DeAngelo (120 lbs), Alex Presley (182 lbs), and Zach Baker (285 lbs). Sean Dudgeon (132 lbs), and Gavin Kafka (160 lbs) both went 3-2 on the day. Ryan Kelley (145 lbs), Trea Renwick (152 lbs), and Alex Sargent (170 lbs) also won matches for the Scots.
The wrestling team competes next Saturday as they host 17 teams from across the state in The Jeremy Ammons Kilted Klassic. Wrestling starts at 10 am.
