Game Recap

A great defensive performance for Highland. Five players contributed offensively tonight with hits coming from Kelsey Walters, Mikayla Robinson, Hailey Moore, Harlee Steck and Hannah Coffee. Timely hitting was lacking and not enough back to back hits to push additional runners through.

Game Recap

Conner Ulrey had a no-hitter going into the seventh inning, but a single by Jake Rings broke up his no-hit bid.

Ulrey (2-0) still managed to lead Highland to an 8-1 win over Centerburg in seven innings on Wednesday at Centerburg. Highland got the win thanks in large part to Ulrey’s dominant, seven-strikeout performance. Ulrey allowed one earned run on four hits and no walks over seven innings. He now has an ERA of 1.38 in 25 innings of work.

Junior Alex ‘Wink’ Wright was his battery-mate behind the plate and continues to play exceptional defense. He threw out the only base runner to reach base before the last inning with a strike to second base.

Five runs in the first three innings helped the Scots defeat Centerburg. A sacrifice fly by Dalton Stambaugh during the first inning helped Highland put some runs on the board early.

Jett Swetland put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Scots. He tripled in the first inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the fourth and fifth innings. Swetland has (10) doubles and (4) triples on the season and is currently hitting .483.

Highland has won 7 games in a row and has improved to 13-6 on the season.
