Highland got back into the win column on Tuesday with a league win over visiting Cardington 10-0. Highland scored in each of the 5 innings of play to improve their record to 8-3 on the season.
Highland scored in the bottom of the first when infielder Clay Matthews reached base on an infield error and scored on a RBI single by senior Mack Anglin. Anglin would later score on a fielder’s choice by short stop Jarin Vasquez.
The Scots would add a 3rd run in the 3rd when center fielder Reese Weissenfluh singled, stole second and scored on corner infielder Tate Tobin’s RBI double to left field. The third inning was the Scots’ big inning as the blue and red would score 5 runs in the frame. Anglin, Rider Minnick, Reese Weissenfluh, Zach Wetzel and Randy Cain all scored in the frame to give the Scots an insurmountable lead. A double by Liam Garrett and a base hit by Cain led to the final runs of the game.

He was replaced by sophomore Logan Shaffer who worked a scoreless final two innings for the Scots. The lefty struck out 3 Pirate hitters, allowed 1 hit, and did not allow a run in his outing.
